Ben Hill
February's Swimmer of the Month
Coach Melissa says, "Ben moved up from the Pre-Competitive Team to the Competitive Bronze Group in April 2011. He was 8 years old at the time. The first thing you notice about Ben is his huge smile, the twinkle in his eyes, and when he’s ready to go his tongue hangs out the side of his mouth just like Michael Jordan. Like many of our 8 year olds who move up to the Bronze Group, Ben struggled to understand all the different drills and skills that were being taught. He experienced his first long course season which was new and eye opening. In the Fall, having already gone through one season of our drills and skills, Ben started connecting the dots and started putting things together. He started understanding that consistent work in the pool at practice meant success at the meets which in turn made his times faster. Through lots of hard work and a better understanding of his strokes and control in the water Ben achieved his first Age Group State Q time in the 100 Butterfly in Yuma. Later in the meet Ben picked up a second Q time in the 50 Free and is very close in several other events. With a year and a half left in the 10 & Under Age Group we can expect some great things from Ben now and in the future."
