Competitive Season Recap



As 2012 draws to a close, we take a look back at all that we’ve accomplished this past long course season. This past season has been a tremendous success for our team and here are some highlights:

The Virtual Club Championship automatically ranks all USA Swimming member clubs based on swimmer performance. With this tool, you can see how your club stacks up nationally. Their computers figure out the best possible event line up for each team based on swimmers power point rankings in a maximum of four events per swimmer, and 2 swimmers in each event.

-Ashley Grijalva became RIO’s 1st USA Swimming Junior National Qualifier since 2009, qualifying in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:14.01 and swimming to a 4th place finish at Summer Northwest Sectionals in Mt. Hood, Oregon.

-Seth Chun finished ranked 8th Nationally for 11-12 boys in the 200m butterfly for the 2012 LC season.

-Team records broken this season:

Karilyn Quon: 13-14 Girls 1500m Free (18:39.82) / 13-14 Girls 200m Back (2:30.79) / 13-14 Girls 400m Free (4:39.22)
Seth Chun: 11-12 Boys 400m IM (5:33.44)
