Welcome to Rio Salado Swim Club. The Development Team is designed for those swimmers who are new to the sport, currently developing their skills or who are not ready to give a full commitment to the Competitive Team. This program will not only develop the fundamental skills necessary to be a great swimmer but also educate both parents and swimmers of the full commitment required to be a highly competitive swimmer. It can also offer a place for kids to excel in multiple sports and/or other activities without having to drop out of swimming altogether.

At any Development Team practice, you will find Coaches excited to train your swimmer to reach their fullest potential. We offer practices for all ability levels; from our Advanced Stroke Groups (those swimmers with the basic foundation of the 4 competitive strokes) to our High School Development Group (those swimmers competing on the Varsity level with their local High School Team). All practices do require some equipment; a one piece swim suits for girls and jammers or briefs for boys (NO SWIM SHIRTS), a pair of fins (available at our pro shop), a swim cap and a pair of goggles. Ratios for most groups are 16:1, with a coach in the water for all Advanced Stroke practices. At practice you can expect to see an emphasis on stroke development and improved stroke quality. Coaches use a variety of techniques, drills and swimming sets to keep swimmers actively engaged.
Rio Salado is a year-round Swim Club. Training continues 12 months a year and we compete in 3 distinct seasons. Our Spring League begins in late March, followed by Summer League which kicks off at the beginning of June and Fall League revs up in late August. As meets approach, details will be available from coaches and via email correspondence from the Club.
